A Love Letter to 2014

My mother always says “you can’t love a thing.”

Bread with Jam

22 Aug Figs for Days Feature

My grandpa was a sweet man with a sweet tooth. This trait runs down all the branches of his family tree. When any of his seven children and eighteen grandchildren (me included) reach for something sugary after a meal, they know why.

When there was no dessert (and there often wasn’t), grandpa broke out the bread and jam.

On Friday I hiked the Grouse Grind in less than an hour, on Saturday I swam (ahem.. floated) with the family, and on Sunday I cycled 60km before noon 🙂 Continue reading

A Weekend of Olympic Proportions

27 Jul The Olympic Rings on Tower Bridge

The 2012 Olympic Summer Games begin in London today and, to commemorate the occasion, I’ve got my own triathlon-style weekend planned. It will involve hiking, swimming, and cycling and although I probably won’t receive any medals, there is a real possibility that I will be unable to walk by Monday. Continue reading
