We’ve officially “fallen back” and the dark days are coming. Miserably rainy, cold, dark days. The shortest day of the year is still two whole months away and the two months following that can be some of the wettest and darkest on the west coast. Sometimes you just need to go to the beach

It’s another perfect summer weekend in Vancouver and, despite neglecting housework, homework, and this blog all week, I decided Saturday had to be a beach day. Not one to shirk my responsibilities entirely, I did spend a couple (agonizing) hours indoors working on some homework. My reward was a glorious afternoon lazing in the sun at Jericho beach. I had my book, a blanket, some salsa and home-made guacamole for snacking, and nowhere to be.

Go Play Outside

My plan for the weekend was to get outside and get moving. I’m pleased to report that I survived my own personal Olympic Triathlon and the whole weekend was a huge success! On Friday I hiked the Grouse Grind in less than an hour, on Saturday I swam (ahem.. floated) with the family, and on Sunday I cycled 60km before noon 🙂 Continue reading
